This design was inspired by the canals and the barges and narrowboats that travel along the web of canals that spread throughout Birmingham and the wider Black Country. Initially an industrial transport network where larger barges would carry goods and supplies, later narrowboats brighten Birmingham’s cultural history to present day where we see the familar brightness of beautifully decorated narrowboats. Laurence Boderick’s bull sculpture remerges reimagined as a watery narrowboat displaying the culture of folk art flowers and the castle. As a modern twist our nearest local castle, Dudley Castle is featured with a few shadow like graffitied residents from its zoo.
